Originally training as a high class cabinet-maker at the leading furniture making college Rycotewood, where Nick nurtured his making skills enabling him to produce a number of award winning pieces. Including two certificates of excellence in both making and design from the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers. On completition of the Rycotewood course Nick gained the prestigious Manja Morris Leigh scholarship. It was given as a tribute to Morris Leigh who was a high end furniture maker in the east end of London and set-up to enable a year in residence. This award was set up through the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers who liased with the late Manja Leigh and Rycotewood. On completion of this scholarship Nick was awarded the Rycotewood Guildmark for outstanding work. Nick then went on to work with Sustrans on a outdoor seating commission before working with a number of other furniture makers across the UK proving his skills and performing outstanding work for them. Ranging from kitchens, side tables, chairs, to custom commisisoned one off pieces, and notably known work for James Verner Furniture. Then in 2006, he graduated from Buckinghamshire and Chilterns University with a degree in contemporary furniture design and products. Nick worked on various projects mainly based around manufacturing processes and was heavily involved with designing products with the environment in mind. After graduating, Heals took an interest in his compact desk and six months later with constant development on his part saw his initial university project go into full production in the UK for Heals. Nick joined Modus Furniture in 2007 to work as a product developer. He currently works on the development of their products and management of various projects across numerious countries.
